Shoutout to My First Hater: How one awkward live stream taught me everything I needed to level up.

On July 8th, I set up on the sand for a special sunset session: Ocean Vibes and Meditation Live — a calming practice by the sea, shared in person and streamed on TikTok Live for anyone tuning in from home.

Just two minutes before we went live...my microphone broke.

I had a choice:

• Cancel the live, disappoint those waiting...

• Or move forward with just my phone mic — knowing the sound might suffer.

I chose to show up.

Let’s just say… the tech issues showed up too.

• The sound wasn’t great.

• My voice was muffled.

• The playback made me cringe.

• I almost gave up on the spot.

And yet — the session still made an impact.

The TikTok stats came in:

→  3.6K viewers

→  1.1K likes

→ Kind comments and DMs

→ A beautiful in-person experience

But… then came one comment:

“I hope they didn’t pay for this.”

Oof.

Out of everything — the numbers, the feedback, the energy of that sunset — that is what took me down.

I fixated on that one rude sentence.

I questioned my talent, my voice, and even my purpose.

And then I caught myself.

This was a moment.

A moment of growth, of challenge… and truthfully — of leveling up.

I realized:

• I want to be seen.

• I want to grow this practice and reach more people.

• And yes, sometimes that means being seen before everything’s perfect.

That one rude comment? It helped my algorithm.

So shoutout to my first hater!

You reminded me what I’m made of.

Here’s what I learned:

• Every creative hits bumps.

• Every healer has moments of doubt.

• Every person putting their work out there gets feedback that stings.

But those bumps are necessary.

The stings? They’re signs you’re playing bigger.

So if you’re in a season of growth,

if you’re being seen more,

if someone criticizes your work —

Let it grow you.

Not stop you.

I’m not giving up.

Mic: fixed.

Energy: grounded.
